The T Project

Founded by transgender activist June Chua, The T Project is committed to empowering the transgender community in Singapore.

The very first transgender organisation to be registered in Singapore, they run a shelter for homeless transgender people and the Alicia Community Centre, which provides counselling for trans and gender-diverse people with trans therapists; hosts great community events and runs sensitisation workshops. Rest@Hark

Rest@Hark is a safe space for transgender persons who need a listening ear, or for cis gender persons who would like to understand the transgender community better from the viewpoint of a close ally.

People can come here to listen to others and share their stories. Open every Wednesday and Friday afternoons, from 2 to 6pm. Email us to get in touch.

Transbefrienders

Transbefrienders runs a social support group for transgender youths and young adults seeking or considering transition.

Aside from the peer social group that meets up to discuss a variety of topics, you will be assigned to a Transbefriender.

Oogachaga

Oogachaga is a non-profit, community-based counselling, support and personal development agency for LGBTQ+ individuals, couples and families. It is the oldest LGBTQ+ organisation in Singapore, having started in 1999. Counselling services are available face-to-face, through phone, WhatsApp or email.

A Discord channel for transgender, intersex and non-binary people in Singapore, mostly youths.

Despite the moderators’ best efforts, we’ve received comments from the community that there can be toxic behaviour in Transcend.

Chope & Chatter

Chope and Chatter is a safe-space social hangout where all trans, intersex and non-binary people can be their authentic selves.

Organised by TransgenderSG, these socials bring the community together and help trans people form healthy relationships, so that they won’t be alone in their struggles.

Pelangi Pride Centre

Pelangi Pride Centre is a Singapore LGBTQ+ community space, library, and resource centre since 2003. Pelangi means rainbow in Malay, the rainbow being a symbol of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer and more (LGBTQ+) community.

Their secular library has a collection of fiction and non-fiction books of LGBTQ+ interests including local titles. They open most Saturdays 2pm – 6pm (Check their IG for schedule updates!).

Families

My Family Matters

TransgenderSG, together with Oogachaga and SAFE, runs a support group for loved ones of LGBTQ+ persons, named My Family Matters.

Many in the support group are parents of trans kids. There are parents who are further along in journeying with their trans children, and are available to meet up with other parents to lend a listening ear. They are available to speak in English, Mandarin, Tamil or Hindi.

We also conduct a bimonthly gathering, which ranges from socials to panels on LGBTQ+ related topics.

Proudly Parents

A social support group run by SAFE Singapore and TransgenderSG. This provides friendship and support to parents of trans, intersex and gender-diverse children.

Privacy is safeguarded and respected – new members usually meet for coffee with one of the organising parents.

They then join for the larger socials which happens quarterly, sometimes with guest speakers.
