Transgender Stories with Common Ground
10am - 12pm
Imagine that when you wake up, you have two options: hide your identity forever, or constantly be scrutinised for what you are. Which would you choose? Trans people in Singapore don’t have to imagine—it’s a reality many experience. That’s why Transgender Stories invites you to come and listen to the stories four trans Singaporeans have to share about their lives. What are the challenges in juggling a non-binary identity and parenting? How did it feel having to leave nursing after coming out as trans, or to be harassed in school on a daily basis? And how does being trans intersect with sex work and social work? Transgender Stories is a story-sharing event created to foster public understanding of the marginalised trans community in Singapore, open to anyone interested in learning more about trans people. Come face-to-face with the challenges and resilience of this community. Their stories are at once heartwarming and heart-rending — they are real and Singaporean. Let’s have a conversation and discover what it takes to create a truly inclusive Singapore.
